NHN Japan Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "we", "us", or "our") handles your personal information in our service line, NAVER as follows.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") applies to all of NAVER's services (hereinafter referred to as "the Services"). For some of the Services requiring the collection of information, we will provide further details of privacy protection in "Personal Information Protection Policies for Respective Services." We will manage your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and Personal Information Protection Policy for Respective Services.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to collections of personal information by third parties such as in the websites linked to the Services.

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE

We collect and use the following information in the Services.

  • INFORMATION PROVIDED

    We collect your information including your email address, user name, and password. Your password is encoded in a manner that makes it impossible to decode, and is securely saved and managed. An email address will be used, when we send a newsletter to those members who want to subscribe to a newsletter service, or send notices about other services. At times, we collect your real name, physical address, phone number and the likes, in order to send a gift, etc.

  • COOKIES

    Cookies are used to improve user convenience such as filling in your email address automatically when you log-in, or for security such as maintaining and protecting a session.

  • LOG

    Logs are created automatically when you visit NAVER's web page and include your IP address, browser type, and browser language. Such information will be used to analyze user environment, thereby providing a better service and preventing fraudulent acts that lead to obstruction of normal services. Search records will be stored and managed in a manner that persons cannot be identified. They will be used to aggregate statistical data.

  • HELP

    The help function collects your email address, real name, user name, PC hardware information and the like. Such information may be utilized for investigating and answering your inquiries, and to confirm that the user is the authentic user.

  • LOCATION INFORMATION

    Some of the Services may use location information transmitted from users' mobile phones. We only use such information within the scope we believe necessary for the designated service.

  • DEVICE INFORMATION

    Device-related information including unique device identification of terminals may be collected. The information will be utilized for the provision of better service and to prevent fraudulent acts that may lead to obstruction of normal service provision. Furthermore, such information will not include that which will identify the individual user.

PURPOSE OF INFORMATION USE

We use the information we collect for the following purposes.

  • To help you use the Services without difficulty;
  • To make statistical data about the use of the Services;
  • To send users questionnaires, research, and analyze the result of the questionnaires in order to improve the Services, and review and plan for better service;
  • To respond to your inquiries;
  • To notify, through a newsletter, information about the Services or an advertisement of third parties;

  • To draw winners for promotional events and courier gifts to those winners;

  • In the case that your personal information is provided as a result of the succession of our business in a merger, demerger, business transfer, etc.

INFORMATION DELEGATION

We may entrust, to the extent we consider necessary to achieve the purpose of the use, the handling of personal information collected from users in whole or in part to a trustee. We adequately access the eligibility of the trustee, impose confidentiality obligation on the trustee in the contract, and establish an appropriate information administration system.

SHARED USE OF INFORMATION

We may share your personal information with a business partner, in relation to the provision of the Services in the future, when we need to co-work with a business partner. We will inform you about the purpose of the information use, the business partner's name, the type of shared information and the information manager's name before we share your personal information with the business partner.

YOUR RIGHTS

You may, at any time, confirm or correct your registered personal information such as your email address and password on the Services' website. You can also delete your account.
Except for the following instances, you may request, through the procedures we separately specify, us to disclose your personal information that is unable to confirm on our website.

  • When the disclosure is likely to harm the life, body, property or other rights or interests of you or a third party;
  • When the disclosure is likely to severely interfere with our proper operation;
  • When the disclosure violates laws and regulations;
  • When we are unable to identify whether you have made the request for disclosure.

You may request, through the procedures we separately specify, us to correct, add or delete your personal information, when and if you find that your personal information registered with us is incorrect after the disclosure. In this respect, we shall swiftly investigate it within the scope of the purpose of information use, and correct, add or delete the personal information on the basis of our findings.
When you request us to disclose your personal information that is unable to confirm on our website, we may charge you for the disclosure in accordance with the process that we separately specify.
You can freely choose whether you will provide us with your personal information or not, however you may be unable to use a part of the Services until you have provided us with necessary information.

PERSONAL INFORMATION OF CHILDREN

If you are younger than 15 years old, you must obtain the consent from your legal representatives such as your parents before you provide your personal information to use the Services.

MODIFICATION OF THIS PRIVATE POLICY

This Privacy Policy may be revised from time to time. You will be notified of important changes in a recognizable manner.
